4.3 Device replacement

A device replacement is required if a defective hardware (x700 system) is to be replaced

with the follow-up system (x800).

 The Device replacement function serves to prepare the CF card of a replacement device

using »IPC Backup & Restore«, so that the configuration data of IPC 1 (like for instance

parameters, boot project, visualisation) can be transferred to the replacement device

(x800 system).

 This enables a subsequent device replacement from an x700 system to an x800 system.

[4-2] Basic representation of a device replacement: IPC 2 replaces IPC 1 within the machinery. CF card 2 has to be prepared using

the "Device replacement" function.

 Basic procedure:

1. Import CF card 1 from IPC 1 (device to be replaced including the source data) in the »IPC

Backup & Restore« ( )

2. Have CF card 2 of the replacement device converted ( )

3. Insert CF card 2 in IPC 2. ( )

• Start IPC 2 (replacement device) with CF card 2.

The IPC will then restart (several times) until the migration and the data for the display are

adapted.

 How to transfer the existing configuration data (source data) to the CF card of the

replacement device (x800):

1. Select Device replacement tab
